Domain Name Scam?

Many bloggers are reporting that Network Solutions, the third largest domain registrar in the world is up to some shady tactics.

I am confirming that Network Solutions steals domain ideas when people check domain availability on the Network Solutions website. They seem to have started the practice of stealing domain ideas on December 16th 2007 according to our Domain History database but I was just made aware of this practice today. I am appalled at the concept of taking people’s domain ideas and registering it before the consumer has the ability to manual register the domain. (click here for more details)

Godaddy.com is number one, Enom.com is number two and both sell at significantly less than Network Solutions. (Ubertor is an affiliate of Godaddy.com)

This is crap. I can’t believe that a supposedly reputable company would try and pull something like this. I hope they stop now, or they won’t be registering many more domains from knowledgeable people.

i have suspected this for while and not only that company but also from most domain registering companies. We as consumers have no idea what they are doing on the other end. there should be intellectual rights that automatically get credited to the originator of a domain name whether registered or not and then any one who wants to get that name should pay a fee to the originator.
