Web no longer ‘irrelevant’ to real estate leads
RE/MAX International Chairman Dave Liniger this week announced plans to spend $25 million on Web lead generation in the next 12 months, a little birdie who attended the company’s conference in Colorado told Inman News. Just a few years ago, Liniger told a crowd at the 2002 Real Estate Connect conference in San Francisco that the Internet was irrelevant in getting best-quality real estate leads. At the time, he said some 70 percent of RE/MAX business came from repeat customers, referrals and relocation opportunities and “that has nothing to do with the Internet.” “We’re in a relationship business, not a lead-generating business,” he told the crowd at the Palace Hotel. Wonder what changed his mind?
