Everybody experiences rejection before becoming great!

302 times was the number of rejections Walt Disney received before he got the YES he was looking for to finance Disney World. JK Rowling was turned down by twelve publishers and look where Harry Potter is now. Colonel Sanders, with his secret recipe for Kentucky Fried Chicken, got his “Yes” after pitching the idea 1,009 times!

“We get it pounded into us that no is rejection—and rejection is painful. No is bad,”
— Tom Hopkins, How to Master the Art of Selling

Famous people and anyone else who has done something remarkable have learned to embrace rejection to achieve their dreams.

Reject Rejection

“If someone says no, just say NEXT!”
— Jack Canfield

If something is worth your commitment and you’re passionate about doing, you’re going to face a lot of “No”. Rejection is always there ready to teach you a lesson to persevere.

What you do after the rejection is very important. Consider all the rejections you receive as valuable input. Listen, understand, and learn from the fears and doubts that you’re experiencing. So that you’ll be more prepared and equipped with the right mindset and condition of heart the next time you pitch your idea.

Always remember to keep moving forward.

There Is No Place For Self-Rejection

When you listen to the voice in your head saying the “What-ifs”, you’ll start doubting yourself and that will resonate in how you communicate your idea to your audience or customers.

Tell that voice to back off!

Doubting yourself is far worse than being rejected by a prospect. It’s eating you up, derailing, and stopping you from achieving your goals.

Steven Pressfield describes internal rejection as “Resistance” in his book The War of Art.

“Resistance cannot be seen, touched, heard, or smelled. But it can be felt. We experience it as an energy field radiating from a work-in-potential. It’s a repelling force. It’s negative. Its aim is to shove us away, distract us, prevent us from doing our work.”
— Steven Pressfield, The War of Art

Resisting the rejection inside your head is the hardest to overcome. But you must do this because you cannot get anyone to say yes until you start believing in yourself and the things that you are doing.

Rejection Is A Step To Success

“I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work. I am not discouraged because every wrong attempt discarded is another step forward.”
— Thomas Edison

Every time you are rejected, smile and learn from it. Another milestone was just achieved, and you’re more prepared and confident to try again.
